Duluth is in a March Madness (so to speak) to be the "Best Town In America" and you can help. Duluth is involved in a bracket style competition, and just advanced past Columbia, MO. Moving into the second round faces Athens, OH. Voting for this round is open now through 10:59 p.m. (local time) on Saturday, May 24, 2014.

You are only allowed to vote once in each round of the competition. Every round lasts for 5 days and then declares a winner. A final winner will be announced on June 15

Past awards for Duluth include Outside Magazine, which named Duluth one of the “30 Best Towns in America” in 2007, and Duluth was also named one of the “Top Dream Towns” of 2001.

Duluth is also talked about in The Untold Delights of Duluth, made by former U.S. Representative J. Proctor Knott of Kentucky calling Duluth an Eden and a fantasy, and references the rivers and lakes of the area. In fact the city of Proctor, Minnesota, is named for Congressman Knott.
