Verne Lundquist, who was born right here in Duluth, is stepping down from his position of 'The Voice Of The SEC ON CBS' position after the 2016 season.

Lundquist has been the voice of SEC college football games on CBS since 2000, while also working regular-season college basketball games, the NCAA tournament, and some of the biggest golfing weekends of the year. Lundquist will continue to do some work with some college basketball and major golf tournaments.

Lundquist was quoted in a CBS Sports press release mentioning how he can relax some now. “Now, it’s time to step back and take in the aroma of those tulips, those roses, and those daffodils that friends have been telling me about for years“ Lundquist has been in television for over 50 years, and was also in the Adam Sandler comedy ‘Happy Gilmore’, where he played himself as a golf commentator.
