You can be one of the first to screen the new movie. Polka! The Movie with commentary by writer and narrator Joe Valencic. St. Louis County Historical Society is pleased to announce a screening to be featured in the new satellite theater of the Duluth Playhouse, the Underground, of the St. Louis County Heritage & Arts Center (the Depot)

The event will run from 1:00 - 3:00 pm on July 10, 2013. The Duluth musical group, the Singing Slovenes, will provide potica for refreshment. The Movie celebrates the American love of Slovenian polka music. Among the twenty personalities within Polka! The Movie is Minnesota’s own Fr. Frank Perkovich with his famed Polka Mass.

Before the screening, Valencic will present his tribute to Slovenians who have contributed to America’s musical heritage. Valencic, President of the National Cleveland-Style Polka Hall of Fame and Museum, is a Cleveland-based writer, historian, and filmmaker.

This presentation is made possible in part by the American Slovenian Polka Foundation, the parent organization of the Polka Hall of Fame, and a grant from the Office for Slovenes Abroad of the Republic of Slovenia.
