KOOL 101.7 Turn Back The Clocks To The 80s
At 2 pm Friday KOOL 101.7 celebrates Daylight Saving Time by turning back the whole station to the 80s.
All weekend long KOOL will play the greatest hits of the 1980s and invite you to join us and relive the memories and the music.
The 80s brought us so many different things and so many different looks. It was the start of people leaving one group to go to another, or leaving to go solo. The Super Group ASIA was the top Album to start the decade, REO Speedwagon was a ten year overnight success with their Album of the year Hi Infidelity in 1981, Michael Jackson put out the biggest record of the 80s releasing Thriller, and Prince was the first person to be number one on the R & B charts, Pop Charts, Album Charts, and Movie charts. KISS took off their makeup, while all the glam bands put makeup on.
We had changing looks like Boy George and Cyndi Lauper. Men wore makeup and rocked, like Twisted Sister, Van Halen started playing keyboards, lost a singer and got bigger when they got a new singer when David Lee Roth exited for Sammy Hagar. People spent money like they had it to keep up with the latest look.
Videos were featured on Friday NIght videos and MTV played nothing but music videos. That's when the image was just as important as the music.
