I think a life goal we can all agree on is leaving a lasting impression with your legacy. That's exactly what this man did, and his obituary is a tribute to his unique and extraordinary life.

Joseph A. Heller Jr passed away on Sunday, September 8th and the age of 82. From the first line of his obituary, you know you are in for a story.

Joe Heller made his last undignified and largely irreverent gesture on September 8, 2019, signing off on a life, in his words, “generally well-lived and with few regrets.” When the doctors confronted his daughters with the news last week that “your father is a very sick man,” in unison they replied, “you have no idea.”

The obituary goes on to highlight some of his greatest pranks, how he tormented his siblings, and how he would intentionally embarrass his children and family with his loud outfits.

There he met the love of his life, Irene, who was hoodwinked into thinking he was a charming individual with decorum. Boy, was she ever wrong. Joe embarrassed her daily with his mouth and choice of clothing.

It's one of those obituaries where you really wish you had a chance to meet the man. You can tell he was the kind of guy that lived life on his own terms and didn't care what the "normal" was supposed to be. I think we all can learn a lesson from Grandpa Joe.
