Superior Holds Free Landfill Days – April 21 & 28
If the Spring Cleaning bug has bit - the City of Superior has the answer to "what to do with all that junk you need to get rid of". As has been their practice in years past, the City of Superior is offering Free Landfill Days to property owners within the municipality. This years free days are consecutive Saturdays - April 21 and April 28 - 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
Residents must haul their own trash to the landfill (located on Moccasin Mike Road, a mile and a half east of Highway 53). There are restrictions in place; click here for the full details.
Here are the items that will be accepted at the landfill for free:
- Household trash
- Brush
- Tires (up to 4 per residence, 18-inch or smaller)
- Grass clippings
- Leaves
The landfill will still accept mattresses and box springs during the event, but regular fees apply; cost is $15.00 each if completely dry and fairly clean, $18.00 each if damp, wet, or heavily soiled.
The following items will not be accepted:
- Recyclables
- Demolition materials
- Electronics
- Appliances
- Batteries
- Fluorescent bulbs
- Motor oil
- Household hazardous waste
In addition, the City of Superior reminds property owners of the following requirements to use the landfill for free:
- Must possess and show proof of residency
- Individual/private households only. (No contractors, landlords, business owners)
- All loads must be covered during transport in order to avoid a littering fine
- Loose items must be bagged and tied
