Fall color is running a little later than usual this year, due in part to the drought, which has stressed out area trees. Yep, there's enough stress to go around. And many of us will make the time to hit the road and take in an eyeful of rust, lemon and orange - the best "free show" of the entire year here in the Northland.

But some of us don't have that luxury, due to caring for kids or parents or getting caught up in work, or possibly health reasons. There is always a Plan B: here are some of the best fall color websites that caught my eye:

Lutsen Mountains Live 360-Degree Webcam

The most impressive webcam I cam across shows a live, panoramic view of the surrounding hills. In a previous post, our very own Nick Cooper described that this state-of-the-art, 66-megapixel fast scanning digital camera with Canon optics was installed by a Swiss Company called PanoAlpin. I've never seen anything like it.

The hills are alive with color across Wisconsin, and Travel Wisconsin is your one-stop shop to see where you may have the best luck leef-peeping.

So many options, so little time. My wife and I are driving up to Grand Marais to check out the colors. Maybe there's a road trip in your future, too.

Good luck out there!
