Unfortunately, progress often comes with unfortunate consequences.  In an effort to improve one thing, something else must be forsaken.  The potential for impact to historical properties along the route of Highway 210's planned reconstruction project has spurred officials with the Minnesota Department of Transportation to hold an Open House and public meeting to listen and address those concerns.

The meeting will happen Monday, October 18 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Jay Cooke State Park, River Inn Building - which is directly adjacent to the park headquarters building:  780 Highway 210 in Carlton.

There will not be a presentation, but display boards will be posted with details about the project that is scheduled for 2016.  Known historic properties will be marked.

Everyone is invited to attend this meeting to learn more about the project, the impact on historic properties, and to share their knowledge about the area with the state.  Groups and individuals have the potential to become official consulting parties to the project that is expected to be finished by October 2016.

The work on Highway 210 will help to reopen the stretch of highway that has been closed since the flood of June 2012.
