If you've been following the Highway 53 Relocation Project on the Iron Range, you've no doubt heard about the bridge they're building that will cross Rouchleau Pit - just to the east of the City of Virginia. When it's done and the new highway is open, that bridge will be the tallest one in the state - rising more than 200 feet over the water below.

One bit of information that was surprising to me, though was the length of the bridge;  while it will be the tallest in the state - it won't be the longest.  In fact, the bridge won't be very long at all - just 1,100 feet long.  To put that in perspective, that's shorter than the Oliver Bridge.  (The Oliver Bridge is 1,900 feet long).
