I'm of the belief that we have allowed the ideals of the "proper dress code" to erode to the point that the majority of American's dress like slobs.  There.  I said it.  This is especially true for American men.

That's why this article at caught my eye.  The main issue at hand for the writer  is whether or not a man should tuck in a button down shirt.  I thought that was an easy answer - but apparently not.  He also includes a primer for whether or not you need to wear a belt ("always"  is the correct answer...) and takes you through "to tuck or not to tuck".

I agree with everything that Christopher Ford includes in this article -- but would add two fashion laws of my own:  The color of your belt should match the color of your shoes and you should never - I repeat - never wear pajamas in public.
