The New Census Plan For Non-Responsive Housholds

Can You believe there are still people that haven't taken the ten minutes it requires to fill out their census?

The US Census has formed a Nonresponse Followup Operation (NRFU) just for these people, and it will require census takers to visit people. The U.S. Census Bureau released a plan on their website that outlines a plan for visiting every household that has not already responded so that they can have a complete and accurate count. this is important because it can mean better representation and money for your part of the state or county.

Here's how it works. According to the US Census website, between August 11 and October 31st, census workers will visit households that have not filled out their forms or gone online, with a special census smartphone. The family member that is home (adult) will be the one answering for the entire household by pressing buttons on the special phone. If the person is not home, the census taker will leave the information on when they may be visited again, or how to fill out their forms online or on the phone so the worker doesn't have to come back.

Census takers will follow social distancing protocols for health and safety per each state's rules and regulations. The nice part is, very few live census takers will be working for Minnesota or Wisconsin since they are 1 and 2 in the census returns.
