Please be careful around the major intersections, members of the Duluth and Superior Fire Departments are there for the annual Fill the Boot fundraising campaign to help the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) find urgently needed treatments and cures for muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases that severely limit strength and mobility.

Wild Foxes have been spotted many times this year, but most of the sightings have been on Park Point. People are posting pictures online of foxes in their yard, eating their garbage and sometimes going after their pets.

All kinds of problems have befallen the Minnesota Slip Bridge (also known as the Pedestrian Blue Bridge) in Canal Park. With crews working on it, it is estimated that the bridge will be out of service and pinned in the upright position at least until Friday morning August 16th, to allow crews to do maintenance repairs and inspect overall bridge operations.

The Tall Ships are coming to Duluth and docking in the bay. Many people look forward to the event and goes to the bay and want to see. The challenge is not only with car traffic, it's also with sail traffic.

My Grandma June used to talk about a man she worked with at Damiano Center, she talked about how much he did to help people. She could work his name into anything. You'd talk about how your car broke down, she would say, "Steve O'Neil helped me fix my car today."

The Duluth Fire Department issued a Red Flag Warning yesterday. It's not the first time they have done this for Park Point Beaches, and it won't be the last. A Red Flag Warning means that wind and/or wave conditions support deadly rip currents. Rip currents are life-threatening to anyone entering the surf.

Lunch with the History People is a forum that welcomes people who are making art, books, pictures, or otherwise, about Minnesota or Duluth. Hosted by the Depot, this month they welcome Tony Dierckins.

Every year it's a tradition that people gather and help plant, weed, and whatever the area needs in the Rose Garden at Leif Erickson Park. This year might be a different story because of the late snowfall. One of the perks of helping, free advice for those that have a green thumb.
