Every year it's a tradition that people gather and help plant, weed, and whatever the area needs in the Rose Garden at Leif Erickson Park. This year might be a different story because of the late snowfall. One of the perks of helping, free advice for those that have a green thumb.

There is nothing that says spring more in Duluth than the annual “raising of the roses” in the popular Lakewalk Rose Garden.

Volunteers are invited to join in on this annual spring tradition at two upcoming Rose Garden work days.

Saturday, April 27th from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon

Tuesday, April 30th 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm

City staff and representatives from the Lake Superior Rose Society will be on hand to teach volunteers the spring steps of the Minnesota tip winterizing method for tender roses.

Volunteers are invited to show up at the Rose Garden during the times listed above and are encouraged to bring gloves and dress for the weather. Register your participation by emailing cskafte@duluthmn.gov or calling 218-730-4334.
