Winter snuck up on us here in the Twin Ports a little earlier than usual, with January-like temperatures settling in to open the month of November. This might have skiers and snowboarders itching to get on the hill. The good news is that you'll be able to hit the hill very soon! Here's what you need to know about both Twin Ports ski areas.

Mont du Lac is set to open on Thursday, November 14, offering free lift tickets to celebrate opening day and half-price ski and snowboard equipment rental. The resort will be open 4 pm - 8 pm on the 14th, with top to bottom skiing on Ridge Run and Main and the Terrain Park will be open.

The resort will continue to be open through the weekend, open 4 pm - 8 pm on Friday the 15th, and 10 am - 4 pm on Saturday the 16th and Sunday the 17th. The Double Chairlift and High-Speed Rope Tow will be operating Thursday through Sunday. Spirit Mountain will open their Grand Ave Nordic Center stadium area on Thursday, November 14 at 6 am. Spirit Mountain's website explains that the size and openness of this area have allowed them to fill in the area and create a decent base for Nordic skiing.  As snowmaking continues, they could potentially add in the first .5km loop.

They explain that their alpine hill is a major focus, with plans to open the alpine hill on Friday, November 22 from noon to 8 pm and also be open for the weekend with hours from 10 am to 5 pm on both Saturday the 23rd and Sunday the 24th. You can get more updates on the snowmaking process and various aspects of what will be open and when here.
