Old Farmer’s Almanac Releases September Weather Predictions
Fall is upon us in the Northland and if you live here, you know that can really mean anything goes in terms of the weather.
We could see a nice, full month of crisp air and gloomy skies. On the other hand, it wouldn't be out of the question to see our first snowstorm of the year either.
To get a look into what we can expect for the month ahead, I always turn to the Old Farmer's Almanac. They make long-term weather predictions based on region. Not everyone believes in their methodology but others do.
Here's a breakdown of what we can expect in September, according to their most recent predictions:
- From September 1st to the 4th, we will see periods of rain and cool temperatures.
- Beginning September 5th through the 9th, sunshine returns along with warm temperatures.
- The 10th through the 16th of the month will bring showers and cool temperatures.
- From September 17th to the 22nd, sunshine returns yet again with temperatures turning warm again as well.
- Beginning September 23rd through the 30th, we will see sunshine and warm temperatures.
This forecast looks amazing, especially the part about warm temperatures! Like I said, anything is possible in the Northland so this is a great relief.
The average temperature throughout the month will be about 57 degrees, which is one degree below average. We will see rain totals below average for the month as well. We will take it!
By the way, if you are already starting to brace yourself for our first taste of the cold, don't fret. The National Weather Service says we usually see our first frost in Duluth on September 30th of every year. Soak in all the sunshine this month supposedly has to offer.
