Nail Gun Sold Exclusively At Walmart Recalled Due To Involuntary Discharge Problem
A popular gift item sold exclusively at Walmart is being recalled. Hart Consumer Products, Inc. is voluntarily recalling their 18-guage 2-inch Brad Nailer due to "serious injury" concerns to the user or a bystander.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the issue is with a contact sensor on the nail gun. That sensor can malfunction, causing the nail gun to involuntarily discharge a nail. About 15,700 units are involved in the recall effort, which is nationwide.
The U.S. CPSC reports that the Hart nail guns were sold at Walmart stores between April 2021 and September 2021. They were available for sale both in-store and online at walmart.com for $130 to $160. They can be identified by the following model numbers:
- HPNR01
- HPNR01B
- HPNR01B-SK
- HPNR01BNCA
Here are additional description identifiers, provided by both Hart Consumer Products, Inc. and the U.S. CPSC:
"The white, blue, and black handheld tool ahs the name "HART" on the side of the nailer in white type on a black backrgound and has "18GA BRAD NAILER" on the side of the nail tray/magazine in white type on a blue background.
