Memorial Day Weekend Usually marks the start of construction around the area. With the whole state starting projects, here's a quick way to plot your trip.

Officials with the Minnesota Department of Transportation remind drivers to use caution in highway work zones. Even though most of the active projects will go on hiatus for the holiday, cones, barricades, signage, and utility supplies will still be in place;  MNDOT urges drivers to still exercise caution.

Slow down when the construction signs bring traffic to single lanes. Try to let people in so that traffic doesn't slow down to a stop. Pay attention to bikers, truckers, and vehicles hauling boats and trailers.

The police and highway patrol will be out in numbers keeping the highways and roads safe so wear your safety belts, put your lights on in inclement weather and never let a friend or family member drive drunk.
