January Is Fake Sick Month. Where Does Minnesota Rank In Sick Days?
Employers can't wait for January to some to an end. This is the month where more people call in "sick" when they're really not. December is second. The weather this time of year sucks and people are still recovering from holiday hangover.
One third of people admit that they have called in sick when they felt just fine. The majority (80%) said they've done it once a year at most and very few (5%) said they do it at least once a MONTH. At least most people feel guilty about it (74%). One fourth said they feel no guilt at all. Here are the top reasons people take a sick day when we're not really sick.
- To rest and relax.
- To spend time with family.
- To run errands.
- To avoid traveling to work in bad weather.
- To hang out with friends.
- To avoid a specific work event, like a meeting or presentation.
