Inspections To Restrict Lanes On Blatnik Bridge For Two Weeks

When does the Bong Bridge open again?  A two-week bridge inspection is planned for the Blatnik Bridge's Superior-bound lanes - November 2 through November 10.  Traffic heading towards Superior from Duluth will be restricted to one single lane during daytime hours:  8:30 AM to 3:00 PM.

In addition to the lane restrictions, the following ramps will also be affected:

• The ramp from northbound I-35 to southbound I-535 will close from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM  Monday, November 9.
• The ramp from southbound I-35 to southbound I-535 will close from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Tuesday, November 10.

Weather could affect the inspections and drivers are asked to be patient.  At this point its unclear what the official completion date is for the two-year Bong Bride project.  That work was expected to wrap up sometime in November;  until it does, the Blatnik Bridge serves as the only main route back to Superior.
