UPDATE: 6:00 pm 2/21/22

All lanes on the Bong Bridge are reopened. Traffic also appears to be flowing once again on the Blatnik Bridge.

Officials continue to urge extra caution while driving tonight. The combination of falling snow and wind blowing snow is creating poor road conditions and reduced visibilities.

Portions of both of the main arteries between Duluth and Superior are temporarily closed due to accidents.

The first closure was announced on the Superior-bound lanes of the Bong Bridge just before 5 pm on Monday evening. Officials shared that traffic needing to get from Duluth to Superior should take the Blatnik Bridge until the accident is cleared.

The second closure was announced for the Duluth-bound lanes of the Blatnik Bridge just after 5 pm. The Superior Police Department and other law enforcement agencies are urging extreme caution if you must be out driving. Drive slowly, leave extra distance between you and others around you, and be prepared to stop. Visibilities are very low due to falling snow being further compounded by blowing and drifting snow.

Road conditions across the region have been deteriorating through the afternoon due to heavy snow and blowing and drifting snow.

We'll have further updates as they become available.
