With the Blatnik Bridge set to close, the Bong Bridge is in the spotlight, and it’s not just the paint that’s changing.

A public meeting is being held on October 20 to discuss the updated estimate of the timeline for replacing the aging Blatnik Bridge. We'll be down to one bridge between the Twin Ports for several years.

I saw the photos of the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Twin Ports Interchange, so I assumed it was open for traffic. Nope. It's kind of confusing.

The Twin Ports Interchanged project is making progress. However, I've noticed a lot of drivers get confused by the Wisconsin exit ramp and nearly cause accidents.

Both MNDOT and WISDOT say this bridge is at the most risk of service interruption, even though 33,000 vehicles cross it each day.

The question has been asked if we actually need two bridges between Duluth and Superior. MNDOT has addressed the question in a fact sheet.

It might look weird if you're just cruising by, but it's very important.

The Bong Bridge has some major work planned. It's scheduled to be completed before it's the main detour route for the Blatnik Bridge replacement.

Prepare for alternate routes and slow going during the construction dates.
