According to a study  by Prudential, released on this day in 2009, the average person spends $42,000 on music during their lifetime. That figure includes listening equipment (stereo,  iPods,  etc) as well as concerts, digital downloads, and Cd's.

Here's the kicker. A music enthusiast (like myself) is likely to spend more than double that, just around $89,000 in their lifetime.

Music books, magazines and DVDs are not figured into this survey. The equipment in the study is whats considered  "average", so high end headphones, speakers, amplifiers for example aren't counted in the study either.

I'm guessing the high end music enthusiast with top notch equipment is looking at $100,00 easy, if not more. Now I know where all my money goes!
