Because of social distancing and mandates by the Governer, Movies in the Park had to become a drive-In. So, here's the plan.

You have to purchase a ticket, but each ticket covers a car, not the number of people in it. The price is $10 a car, just like the old days. (Remember how people used to hide in the trunk?) I wish I had my old Ford LTD station wagon, I could get 20 people in that thing. The organizers are not making any profits on this small charge. Because of the move, there are some costs that have come up and the money is to offset the costs incurred.

Here's how it works: You purchase the ticket here, you show your phone, tablet, or print out at the door, then you will be shown where to park. The screen will be on the west side of the DECC parking lot, and the screen will tell you where to tune your radio so you can listen to the movie. There will be concessions there as well. Masks are not mandatory but they are encouraged, as well as keeping safe distances from others and respecting their space.

Drive-In "Movies in the Park" will start on July 17th this year, which is later than other years. The GCD Website says parking lot will open 1.5 hours before listed showtime. Each vehicle is entitled to one parking space. For safety reasons, no one is allowed to sit on top of their vehicle for any reason. Large or tall trucks, vans, or SUVs, will be parked in the back so everyone can see the screen. People are asked to turn off their headlights for the show. Satellite bathrooms will be available. Pets are allowed but must be kept quiet so everyone can enjoy the movie, and please clean up after your pet.
