Ex-Minneapolis Police Officer Mohamed Noor Found Guilty on 2 Counts

We have a verdict in the controversial trial of former Minneapolis Police Officer Mohamed Noor, who was charged in the 2017 shooting death of Justine Ruszczyk Damond.

According to a report from our media partners at WDIO-TV, a jury of 10 men and two women found Mohamed Noor guilty of third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter, but not guilty of second-degree murder.

The jury had sat through three weeks of testimony before being sequestered Monday afternoon until they reached a verdict.

Noor was handcuffed in the courtroom and immediately taken into custody following the reading of the verdict.

The shooting drew international attention as it involved Minneapolis police officer Noor and Justine Ruszczyk Damond, a dual citizen of the U.S. and Australia, who was shot and killed after she called 911 to report a possible rape in the alley behind her home.

Noor testified he shot Damond after he heard a bang on his squad car, saw his partner was scared, then saw Damond at his partner's window, raising her arm.  She was unarmed when she was shot and killed.
