Yes you CAN spend the summer on ice skates - at least in the Northland!  The City of Duluth Parks and Recreation Department has announced two different skating options for those who want sharpen up their skating skills during the warmer months.

Both of the options will take place at the Essentia Duluth Heritage Center - which maintains ice during the summer months.  Here are the details:

  • Pre-School and caregiver skate will happen on Tuesdays - starting April 30 - from 9:15 AM to 10:30 AM.
  • Open Skate will happen Sundays - beginning May 5 - from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM.  Open Skate will not be available on June 9, July 21, and August 18.

Cost is only $2.00 per person to take part.  However, there are only a limited number of skates available at the center - and these will be distributed first come-first served.  For more information, call 218-730-4300, or to to DuluthMN.gov/parks.
