Duluth Warming Center Will Remain Open This Week With Expanded Hours
As the bitter cold continues across the Northland, the City of Duluth has announced that they will keep the Warming Center open with expanded hours this week.
The expanded hours will continue for as long as daytime highs remain at zero degrees. The Warming Center will open at 6:00 p.m. and close at 10:00 a.m. through Friday, February 12. It will be open for 24 hours on Saturday, February 13 and Sunday, February 14.

The City says that last week, the Warming Center saw a large increase in the number of people utilizing the space.
Thirty-seven people were the highest number of guests that used the space at one-time. Center staff and community advocates are working hard to bring people inside from the cold and provide them with warm clothes and outer gear.
Please spread the word to those in need that the Warming Center is located in the Rainbow Center at 211 North 3rd Avenue East in Duluth. The Warming Center is a safe and welcoming nighttime space where people experiencing homelessness and other people in need can stay warm.
CHUM’s Drop-In space continues to be open 24- hours a day and is another location where people can get out of the elements.
According to the forecast, we should begin to get out of this dangerously cold stretch beginning the week of Monday, February 15. We should experience double digit highs by midweek, while our overnight lows should be at, or just above zero. While not a heat wave by any stretch, it is certainly an improvement over what we are currently experiencing.
