A culvert failure has closed a county road in northern Wisconsin for an unspecified time - until proper repairs can be made.  The Douglas County Highway Department has issued a release that County Road D is closed - about a mile north of County Highway B - in the area to the east of Lake Nebagamon.

Drivers who use the road will need to find an alternative route until repairs can be made.  At this time, the Douglas County Highway Department doesn't have a timeline for the necessary work to repair the failed culvert.

Rural drivers should be aware of changing road conditions in the spring as runoff from snow melt and other conditions can often push road systems to their limits.  While local road authorities do their best to maintain roadways Mother Nature can sometimes take the reins.
