The cold winter months can be brutal on a homeowners budget; Weeks (or sometimes months) of sub-zero temperatures can wreak havoc with well-calculated financial plans.  Winter can be especially hard on those who are having financial difficulty to begin with.

Similar to previous years Douglas County is offering financial help to those in need through an assistance program.  October 1 is the first date the applications are being accepted for the 2018-2019 winter season.  The Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program assists homeowners with their heating and electric costs via a one-time payment.  Applicants must meet certain income eligibility standards.

In addition, the program also offers qualified homeowners help with repair and/or replacement costs associated with non-functioning heating systems.  Plus, renters in Douglas County can apply for the Weatherization Assistance Program to help their household budget as they reduce energy use.

Application information can be found on the Wisconsin Home Energy Plus website  - click here for details.  You can also obtain information by calling 715-395-1651.
