We all love the colors that fall gives us until we have to rake them up. The good news is you don't have to go through that work, and that will actually help the environment.

Did not get your leaves raked up yet? The leaves make a great cover for our fellow creatures to build nests and survive our winters, and are part of our great ecosystem. Leaves will decompose and add nutrients to your yard and gardens and in the spring mowing through the leaves is not a problem as they are broken down with the rich nutrients for a lush green lawn in the spring.

I was surprised at the amount of waste yard trimmings can account for in landfills. 13.5%, or approximately 33 million tons.

So spend less time raking and more time enjoying this great time of year.
