Blatnik Bridge Sweeping Project To Affect Traffic On Monday May 19

Drivers who take the Blatnik Bridge as well as motorists who have been detoured from the Bong Bridge to the Blatnik Bridge need to know about sweeping project that has been scheduled for Monday, May 19 that will affect their commute.

Motorists traveling on southbound I-535/Blatnik Bridge may encounter a bridge deck sweeping operation on Monday, May 19, weather permitting. The work will begin sometime after 9 a.m. and will be completed before 3 p.m. to minimize traffic delays.

Motorists may encounter brief backups during this sweeping project.

The project must be rescheduled if it rains on Monday. The work will be done Tuesday, May 20 or Wednesday, May 21 if it rains on Monday.

All bridge decks are swept annually to clean the driving surface and prevent sand and other debris from exiting or clogging drains.
