Zach Schneider from Grandma's Marathon talked to me and said that they are looking for more volunteers for all aspects of the Marathon Weekend.

This year's Grandma's Marathon is scheduled for June 19th. There are activities and races going on from the 17th on to race day. They are also in need of people to do some cleaning after the race. Some of it involves sweeping and trash duties. From what I understand there are many jobs open. Some of them may include:

    • Essentia Health Fitness Expo – Expo Interaction Area
    • Essentia Health Fitness Expo – Greeter
    • Essentia Health Fitness Expo – Packet Pickup
    • Finish Area – “Ask Me” Info Ambassadors
    • Finish Area – Finish Line Marshals
    • Finish Area – Gear Bags
    • Finish Area – Green Team
    • Finish Area – Heat Sheets
    • Finish Area – Water & Powerade
    • Massage Therapy
    • Medical Services
    • Racecourse Entertainment
    • Starting Line
    • Security
    • Water Stations

Those have been jobs that were available in years past, so they may have been filled. I know that they are looking for a lot of racecourse water stops. This is a great opportunity to see the race and get your group together. You can get your church group together, or even book club. Not a bad idea to teach a kid what volunteering looks like. I know I let my son Sam see the behind-the-scenes volunteering work that I do.

If you are interested in volunteering or have any other questions, please contact the Program Director Alivia Nelson via email at alivia@grandmasmarathon.com or call the office at (218) 727-0947.
