COVID-19 has hit Northland families hard, now that the weather is turning cold and snow is here and on the way, they need help.

These families need coats, mittens, and hats. Some children don't have warm enough things to wear in the winter and it's not their fault, but parents have lost their job and in some cases, their home and are using shelters.

I talked with Pat Ringold and his wife Carla from Benna Ford, until October 31st, you are invited to help. You don't have to buy something new, but please don't drop something off that you wouldn't put your child in.  Everyone has old coats for kids in their closet or hung up in a back closet or in a box in your garage. Pull it out, make sure it is clean and drop it off to Benna Ford.

You can bring one or more into Benna Ford in Superior for kids of all ages, but this year there is an extra push for toddler-sized coats. If you do have an adult-sized coat, please bring it in, that coat could fit a teen. Benna Ford will get the coats professionally cleaned before they are given to the kids and families. Help add to the over 25,000 coats collected over the 19 years they have done this. Make sure when you bring a coat in you tell them you heard about it from this station.

Also, if you bring a coat to the Haunted Shack and Hayride, you will get 5$ off the admission price. It's a great way to have fun during the Halloween Season and help kids.

After the coats are cleaned they will be distributed by the Salvation Army at 916 Hughitt Avenue in Superior. The first day will be Wednesday November 11th: 10 am - 4 pm, then Thursday, November 12th: 10 am - 4 pm and finally Friday, November 13th: 10 am - 4 pm.
