A number of roads will be closed and traffic impacted on Friday and Saturday for Grandma's Marathon 2019 in Duluth. Here are all of the closures and detour routes.

Yes, you read that right.

The Duluth-Superior area is admittedly not a major metropolitan area. While that may be true, it still has a notable amount of noise from roadway traffic and air traffic.

The Tall Ships event will begin this week in Duluth with a "Grand Parade of Sail" on Thursday, August 18th. The City of Duluth expects an influx of traffic over the weekend.

There was quite the ruckus about the snarl of traffic in Canal Park today.  It's the height of the tourist season and it seems that the Aerial Lift Bridge was down to one lane to be cleaned.  One would wonder why it has to be done now.  After talking with Aerial Lift Bridge Supervisor, Dave Campbell, it was more than "just a cleaning" and it makes perfect sense.

The city of Duluth reminds us that Kenwood Avenue, 10th Avenue East and East 4th Street will be worked on next week, some will alter travel and some will entail a complete closure.  Here are the full details so you can plan ahead accordingly.

Reports from the Lake Superior Zoo people is that the first week of Boo At The Zoo were a ton of fun. Reports from the Duluth Police is that people need to be careful when they are coming to the event. With the construction there is a challenge to be safe.

What looks to be an apparent vehicle fire occurred near the Coppertop Church around noon today. The Duluth Fire Department was on scene and had the fire put out, but as you can see in the vehicle it was still smoking.

July 4th always presents a mess for traffic. With the annual Fourth Fest happening at Bayfront Festival Park, there is some parking in the area but it is very limited. Plus it is not easy getting around and sometimes you have to be creative. The Duluth Police issued a statement for how they plan to handle traffic.

You've heard the myth about Minnesota Nice haven't you?  You know what I'm talking about;  folks who live in the Northland are kind, good-hearted, and never complain about anything.  Well I can't argue with some elements of that but I will tell you that people in Duluth love to complain!

Getting around Duluth gets hard every year for the Grandma's Marathon Festivities. Duluth Police have released how they plan to deal with the traffic problems. They have included  the race times and then the traffic closure times.

On Saturday the Fitgers 5K race gets underway about 9 am. While the race only takes up an hour or so to complete, traffic has to be diverted for the area. Duluth Police are asking for motorists to obey the detours, and do not park in the marked off areas.
