On Saturday the Fitgers 5K race gets underway about 9 am. While the race only takes up an hour or so to complete, traffic has to be diverted for the area. Duluth Police are asking for motorists to obey the detours, and do not park in the marked off areas.

The Duluth Police have such a hard job when Grandma's Marathon comes around. They do a great job, and part of it is the communication with people letting them know the changes in traffic and where to go if you want to stay out of the way.

Fitgers 5k is coming this Saturday, and you are invited to enjoy the race. This is the race that sort of starts the Grandma's Racing Schedule. There are some traffic issues, obviously you can't drive in front of Fitgers. Whether you want to see the race or are in it, here are the traffic releases from the Duluth Police.

Just about every time we have snowy and windy conditions here in the Twin Ports, someone inevitably blurts out, "they are going to close the bridges!"  And all of us who work across the bridge  (Duluth or Superior side) start to panic we won't make it home.  The frustrating part of this whole situation is that 99% of the time, the bridges don't close, but misinformation is spread anyway
