Stamp Out Hunger, The National Association Of Letter Carriers Collecting Groceries Second Saturday In May

This year the drive is this Saturday May 13, 2016 and it's easy to take part. Some people will get Super One bags in the mail, some may have to just use your own. Fill it with non-perishable food items and leave it on your porch or front door and the letter carrier will pick it up. One thing that I ask is that you fill it with relevant food, not your left over beans or pumpkin pie filling. Imagine if you got that bag of food, what could you use to feed your family.

Since 1994,  the National Association of Letter Carriers have collected food for area food shelves on the second Saturday in May. This year they are asking your help to beat last years numbers. This year more families need help than ever before. There are more families that don't visit as often as they should because of embarrassment.

The food is taken back to a postal facility, then sorted and delivered by union volunteers to area food banks or pantries for families that need access. This food drive has collected more than one billion pounds of food since its inception. The NPMHU is calling on all Mail Handlers, family and friends to join in, support, and donate to this great program.
