Letter carriers will be leaving a bag for you and on Saturday, May 12th will be picking up this bag, hoping you put some non-perishable food items in it.

Letter carriers are asking that you leave it by your mailbox, and the letter carrier will pick it up. If I may speak for them, I ask that you fill it with relevant food, not your leftover beans or pumpkin pie filling. Imagine if you got that bag of food, what could you use to feed your family.

Since 1994,  the National Association of Letter Carriers has collected food for area food shelves on the second Saturday in May. This year they are asking your help to beat last years numbers. This year more families need help than ever before. There are more families that don't visit as often as they should because of embarrassment.

The food is taken back to a postal facility, then sorted and delivered by union volunteers to area food banks or pantries for families that need access. This food drive has collected more than one billion pounds of food since its inception. The NPMHU is calling on all Mail Handlers, family and friends to join in, support, and donate to this great program.
