Skechers Settles With Federal Trade Commission For $50 Million

It’s not easy being a Kardashian. You know – the countless manicures, salad dinners, and trying to make sure everything they’re peddling lives up to Federal Trade Commission standards can tire a person out.
First the Kardashian brand tarnished with Sears. Now, it appears that Kim Kardashian-endorsed Skechers toning shoes don’t live up to their health claims. The Skechers company has agreed to a $50-million dollar settlement – to be split up among all claims – in a case of false advertising.
Consumers spent upwards of $100 a pair for the oddly-shaped shoes which promised to deliver a “toned body” – much like the one being advertised by Ms. Kardashian. Actual results widely-deviated from the promise in the companies marketing.
Skechers agrees to pay $50 million to settle toning-shoe cases – chicagotribune.com.
