It's a changing world and Boston Scientific is at the forefront.  Recently, the medical device manufacturer decided to do away with paper sales brochures in favor of IPads and cloud-based technology that would allow their sales staff to walk into a potential client without a single piece of paper on  them.

The company distributed the tablets to its sales force in two phrases in 2011: first to U.S. staff, then to international workers. Today, 5,300 devices are deployed and close to 100 custom apps--which run functions such as product simulations and component comparison tools--have been developed.

The upside is easy to see - both for the company and the environment.  Not only can the company update and arm their sales professionals with the most-current product information, but they can also save a tree or two along the way.
