Congratulations to Rhonda Grussendorf Tomlin for another great presentation of the Miss Hermantown Pageant. The night started at Hermantown High School with the singing of the National Anthem by Cally Stanich and then Rhonda introduced the girls.

Each girl comes out and walks in front of the audience while Rhonda reads a Bio of sorts telling you about each girl. What their hopes and dreams are, what they are inspired by and what they do for fun. That is when we met Kayla Matuzak, Kaitlyn Nelson, Melanie Pliml, Madison Reynolds, and Jacqueline Stoneburner.

I was joined in judging by Northland's News Center Morning Anchor Jennifer Austin, and Patricia Stolee, HR Manager for Lake Superior Cunsulting, who has been with the Pageant for every year.

Then next part is a speech written by and read by each girl, talking about their personality and their dreams and aspirations, the next portion was the talent competition. All but one of the girls sang, or played and sang. Then the girls finish with a question from the judges, and last years winners. Rhonda filled in for the missing Riley Kubera.

Then came the time we were ushered out to vote for Miss Hermantown.

In the end, it is the hardest job to do, each girl can bring something to the table, each girl is deserving, and each girl had to put herself out there to be judged. I admire that and wished I could reward it too. One girl gets to be runner up and one girl gets the crown.

Runner up was Kaitlyn Nelson, and Miss Hermantown 2014 is Madison Reynolds. To all the girls tonite, thank you for allowing me to be a part of this wonderful night, and thanks to Rhonda Grussendorf Tomlin for the wonderful thank you and thinking of me to be a judge.
