The Federal government passed legislation that banned manufacturers from making and selling incandescent light bulbs for consumers a few years ago.  LED bulbs quickly became the new go-to bulb of choice for many home users.  Now it appears that the State of Minnesota is getting ready to join the trend.

MNDOT has announced that they are converting all of their roadway lighting systems to use LED bulbs by 2020.

Drivers will initially see the change in the Twin Cities metro area as 10,000 bulbs are switched in the near future.  The change for the greater state will take longer due to geographic and monetary concerns.  The entire process is expected to save the state $1.45 million annually, with an additional $500,000 in savings per year in maintenance and upkeep.
