The Duluth Police Department launched iWatch some time back, and for whatever reason became CodeRED. The plan was to use it to be able to give more information to those that sign up. Now the Police Dept. is asking everyone in the Duluth area they serve to sign up now. This service will let you know when there is an emergency in your area you need to react to.
In an impressive move today, after the city voted to give Mayor Don Ness a raise, he refused to accept it. The city council voted a 25 percent pay increase, from $78,000 to $97,500. He said it was the right thing to do.

More and more people in the Northland are finding that their check isn't going as far as it used to, and are having to lean on food shelves. Based on third quarter statistics, CHUM’s Emergency Food Shelf has seen an increase of 327 families seeking emergency food as compared to the same time period in 2012. During that same time CHUM has had a 48% decrease in cash donations to the Food Shelf.
There are more and more places to bike in the city and now Duluth is planning some more and some share roadways and wants to unveil the plan. Those who are bicyclists are invited to come and other interested community members who want to voice their opinions. They will have the opportunity to learn about the on-road bike lanes being proposed for city-wide implementation.

The City of Duluth golf courses announced they will be closed this week. If you want to play golf you have to go outside right away. October 30th will be the last day at Enger Park, Lester Park is closed as of the 27th.
