Elizabeth Chan wants to write the biggest Christmas song. The problem is, there are so many giant Christmas songs. It's so hard to get new Christmas music on the radio. That hasn't stopped Elizabeth. With her new album "Christmas In The City" out now she has already been weeks into the marketing, working it to radio, and selling it on itunes.

"Christmas in the City" is her third album of Christmas songs and features the title track and some re-worked songs. Click here to sample.

Here's what Elizabeth has to say about this years Christmas Album:

Christmas in the City is my most personal album to date. The last year has had a profound affect on me personally and professionally. Every song on the record, like most all of my Christmas songs have a very personal element to it. This record is definitely a musical diary of places I’ve been this year on my Christmas journey.

Christmas in the City is my love song to two things I hold so dearly, my hometown New York City and my Christmas music. I really wanted to capture some of my favorite Christmas and New York City songs and encapsulate them in this song. I spent the most time on this song for sure. Every sound in that song was kept there for a reason. A listener might catch something they didn’t hear before, all of this is intentional.

Looking at some of the songs, Elizabeth tells me about the meanings and history,

Wouldn’t Be A Merry Christmas is my mother’s favorite song. For the last few years she had been begging me to redo the song as I’ve become a stronger producer. It also reflects the time and experiences I’ve had in discovering Nashville.

A Christmas Song is a special version and a tribute to an arrangement done by a dear friend. My friend Michael and Annie Roberts were two people who believed in me far before I even found true success in this space. Annie had asked if she could teach her high

school choir one of my Christmas songs. I was elated and she chose A Christmas Song. Last Christmas I had the honor to fulfill a dream and watch one of my compositions performed live by students in a holiday concert. It was a highlight of my year. Annie really gave me such a great gift and even said she would love to do this again for this Christmas season. What I didn’t realize at the time, that this would be her last concert. She passed away two months later from ovarian cancer. During her memorial service, it was clear to me that Annie herself was known for the love of her family and holidays. This had a profound effect on me. Despite my collaborators asking me why I wanted to do another version of A Christmas song, truth is, I will forever do different versions of this song because it is my favorite song and the one I think will be the classic - but I also knew that I wanted to pay a tribute and share this version for Annie. This song continues to have an identity of its own.

When asked if there was a bigger sound created for this album, she said, "There is a very international element to this record as the songs will be played not just in the US but worldwide."
