Last weekend news of Def Leppard's Vivian Campbell's divorce was unearthed by TMZ who also reported the guitarist was hoping to convince a court to deny wife Julie spousal support. Campbell owns up to the divorce on his Facebook page before taking the tabloid news site to task for irresponsible and inaccurate reporting about the spousal support.

In a statement, Campbell says he is bending over backwards to accommodate his wife of 25 years, who is also the mother of his two daughters.

It amazes me what people take for truth. If something is in print, does that automatically make it true? It's been reported that I'm filing for divorce and seeking joint child custody. That much is true. However, it was also erroneously reported that I'm seeking to deny spousal support when in fact, that couldn't be further from the truth. Those who know me will attest that I'm going out of my way to be as generous and accommodating as possible to my ex. However, the damage is done; my character and name are sullied because TMZ chose to publish without checking the facts. Since then that 'truth' has been picked up and carried by various news sites around the world and further purported as fact.

Personally, I wouldn't drink water from the gutter. Nor would I get my 'news' from the gutter press.

News of the divorce wasn't too much of a surprise as Campbell has been rumored to be dating a former member of Def Leppard's crew (according to Blabbermouth) who is now on the road with Steel Panther. Campbell all but verifies this on his Facebook page.

In a post from last Wednesday (Nov. 14) he writes, "For the past 4 weeks the woman I love has been working in Europe with another band with a big cat name. I've missed her so much and it's been total and utter s**t with her being gone for so long."

Def Leppard is currently preparing for a 2013 residency in Las Vegas. Tickets for Viva Hysteria! went on sale last Friday (Nov. 16).
