Grandma's Marathon has announced tickets are on sale for the Grandma’s Marathon weekend music under the Big Top. Friday will kick off the weekend party, with Everclear, Vertical Horizon and Fastball. Grandma's Marathon just had their price increase go into effect January 1st, now they announce the 2017 Young Athletes Foundation races are now opened for registration.. Races include the Saint Fennessy 4K, Fitger’s 5K and Park Point 5-Miler, and second annual KP Challenge.  Participants can register for one or do all three by registering for the KP Challenge.

Dick Beardsley stopped in briefly to talk YAF auction. The auction will be at the Greysolen Ballroom. The YAF fund Wednesday Night At the Races and many other programs to encourage kids to run and learn about running. He also shared fishing stories and what has changed over the years.

Grandma's Marathon announced it will open registration for the 41st Grandma’s Marathon Weekend, which includes Grandma’s Marathon, the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon and William A. Irvin 5K,  on October 1st at 10 am. This marks the second year in a row that registration will open for 3 races.

The 10th Annual Minnesota Mile promises to showcase some of the most diverse Mile Runners in the region. With the All City Mile, The Duluth Mile, and finally the Elite Runners in the Minnesota Mile, the last in the Grandma's Marathon Series. According to the Duluth Police Department, here is what to expect.

Grandma's Marathon presents the last race of the year, the 10th Annual Minnesota Mile. They start at a location near Fitgers and finish around 4th Avenue West in Downtown Duluth. People can line up on both sides of Superior Street and join the runners later at the Holiday Center for Awards.

Grandma's Marathon announced yesterday that Greg Haapala has accepted the position of Race Director. Haapala has been a full-time employee with Twin Cities In Motion, the nonprofit organizer of the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon, since 2012, serving as the Participant Services and Events Manager.

Every Wednesday the Young Athletes Foundation and Grandma’s Marathon hold races for kids up to 14 years old to have fun and learn to race. It's a great time for kids and adults, and the kids get a cool ribbon. This Wednesday, August 31 the last race of the season will be held at historic Wade Stadium...

Tonight the Wednesday night at the Races for tonight, citing the inclement weather and unfavorable course conditions. The event was to take place at Duluth's Lincoln Park Middle School.  The plan is to continue the rest of the schedule.

More and more kids are getting involved with running and racing, which I love to see, running helped me exercise and set goals. The Young Athletes Foundation and Grandma’s Marathon are holding the Wednesday night at the races for an introduction or to continue their joy of running. Kids 14 and under can race in a variety of locations, this week it's Griggs Field.

In between sprinkles, the Park Point 5 Miler went off without a hitch. The favorite, Scott Behling, won the 45th annual race with a time of 26 minutes and 14 seconds, and St. Cloud’s McKenzie Holt, 20, claimed the women's title with a time of 31:27.

For many families this is a second go round with the Insane Inflatable 5K Course, maybe this is your first.  If it is, talk to the families about their experience last year and watch the faces of your kids this year, you'll see ultimate joy as they master the course with zeal.  If you find they enjoy this activity, why not continue their quest for running and racing?
