Wow Your Overnight Guests With Unique Breakfast Skewers
Appetizers? No problem. Elegant dinner? No problem. Extravagant dessert? You're on it like a puma. But, it's always a challenge to be consistent in the culinary department when it comes to serving breakfast to overnight guests. Here's one from Taste of Home that will allow you to sleep in and still knock their socks off!
May I suggest my Egg Bake recipe that you make the day before and throw in the oven when you get up. Then you can focus on these little honeys. Plus, when your guests say "is there anything I can do to help?" Put them to work skewering (even less work for you)!
Pick these up at the grocery store:
1 package (7 ounces) frozen fully cooked breakfast sausage links, thawed
1 can (20 ounces) pineapple chunks, drained
10 medium fresh mushrooms [how to clean them]
2 tablespoons butter, melted
Maple syrup
Make it:
Cut sausages in half; on five metal or soaked wooden skewers, alternately thread sausages, pineapple and mushrooms. Brush with butter and syrup.
Grill, uncovered, over medium heat, turning and basting with syrup, for 8 minutes or until sausages are lightly browned and fruit is heated through. Yield: 5 servings. Personally I would double the recipe, everyone will want at least two.
