Beginning today, many more people will now be eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccination in the state of Wisconsin. Up until now vaccinations were only available to those people working in frontline roles such as health care, first responders, nursing home workers, food production roles, manufacturing, and other some other jobs. People over the age of 65 were also prioritized to get the vaccine. Now Wisconsin has rolled out the next tier of people who can get vaccinated, which may include you.

Superior Mayor Jim Paine posted a message on his Facebook page saying that most people could now get the vaccine, and encourage them to do so.

As the Mayor said, most people have at least one of the underlying health conditions and/or a job that can get them in line for a shot. I just scheduled my COVID-19 vaccine through my health care provider by using their app. The earliest I was able to schedule was a week out, but there are other locations you could travel to with earlier times if possible.

You can find more information about the COVID-19 vaccines and eligibility from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. Douglas County also has resources and information available about testing, vaccinations, and other questions.

As of this last weekend, 2.4 million covid-19 vaccination doses have been given in the State. About 15% of the population has received at least one dose. The number of fully vaccinated people is around 900,000. With more eligibilty rolling out, this week that number will start to dramatically rise.
