Wisconsin DOT Clarifies School Bus Lights & Motorist Laws

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation posted a message on Facebook trying to bring awareness and clarification to school bus warning lights. Sadly, there always seems to be confusion and people still run school bus stop signs. Here's what they mean.

Amber warning lights flash when a school bus is about to stop and will soon be activating its red warning lights. At this point, if you are following a school bus you should be preparing to stop. When red warning lights are flashing that means you are to stop at least 20 feet from the bus whether you are approaching from either direction.

It's crucial to understand what they lights mean and to obey them. A child's life may depend on it.
