Vikings RB Roc Thomas Handed 3-Game Suspension
The Minnesota Vikings will begin their 2019 campaign without running back Roc Thomas, who has been handed a 3-game suspension to start the season.
According to StarTribune.com, the suspension is a result of Thomas violating the NFL's policy and program on substances of abuse:
Thomas was sentenced to three years of probation in May after pleading guilty to fifth-degree felony possession of marijuana. He was arrested at his apartment in January, when police officers found 143 grams of the drug.
After losing Latavius Murray to the New Orleans Saints in free agency, the Minnesota Vikings are looking for depth behind starting running back Dalvin Cook. With Roc Thomas sidelined, rookie running back Alexander Mattison will have a golden opportunity to earn extra playing time.
If Roc Thomas makes the team, he would be eligible to return to practice on September 23. He'd be able to play in his first game on September 29, when the Vikings travel to Chicago to battle the Bears.
