Valentine Gifts Men Should, And Should Not Get
Valentine's Day has always eluded some men. They want to get the right gift for their loved one, but think more straight forward, and face it men don't always listen.
Then men are stuck with last-minute decisions and usually make wrong ones. It's better to get something than to forget. Sometimes, it's better to forget than get the trash men get at the last minute thinking, "I would like that".
So I have decided to help a little. I have heard of some good gifts and also heard of some bad, through some friends of mine. So, here is a list I have come up with of Dos and Don'ts. I hope someone is helped by these suggestions.
Good and Bad ideas:
Bad Idea-Membership to a gym. It says you might need to lose a little weight, I'm not happy with you. It's also saying take care of this problem yourself.
Good Idea-Two gift certificates to the gym, it says I know you want to lose weight, I'll do it with you. Maybe add a night out at a healthy restaurant. Or a membership to a food company to eat better together. Maybe cook together.
Bad Idea-Iron, cookware, or cleaning supplies. It says I believe you have a place in this house. Don't be surprised if any of those gifts are used on you.
Good Idea-Iron her clothes, cook her dinner and clean the bathroom. Women were asked what a man could do to look sexy, all of those things were at the top of the list. You might want to add clean the house, and she's putty in your hand.
Bad Idea-Oil change, although it is a smart gift, not a romantic one. Women like a personal gift, one with thought and meaning. Maybe you aren't a fix-it guy, but you just broke this machine
Good Idea-Oil Massage, this one you can do yourself, with candles, music, and well.....use your imagination. You can get her a spa day that includes an oil rubdown maybe one she can enjoy with you, or with some of her friends, then you make the other guys look bad too. This one has some thought.
Bad Idea-Anything from a convenience store. This includes a tree freshener, slushy, iTunes gift card candy bar, or those fake flowers they sell. What kind of woman is impressed with those? One that has already found a man that thinks of her while at a diamond store not standing in front of the beef jerky.
Good Idea-Anything from a store that smells. I mean a store with candles, potpourri, foofy stuff that you hate hanging out in. That's where you buy her something. Women like baths and spraying stuff in the air that makes them smell good.
Bad Idea-Stuffed Animals, what does this say? You are a child, c'mon.....really, what does a grown woman want with a stuffed animal? How do they know you didn't get it from the claw machine at a Chuck E Cheese store?
Good Idea-A card, some candy, and a handwritten note to join you on a flight or cruise, or even just a reservation at a really nice place to eat. You are the animal later if you know what I mean. Or take a trip to see animals. Nice touch!!
Bad Idea-Nothing, this is the worst idea. She would rather have a gas station birthday card stuffed with money than nothing. I'm not saying women are greedy, but nothing means you don't think about them and they don't matter.
Good Idea-Make it personal, use your imagination, listen to her and remember. That will mean more than anything. If she mentioned she likes George Clooney movies and sitting in her sweats and napping, give her a gift certificate for a day off with a DVD of a good Clooney flick. OR, spend all your money getting George Clooney to come to your house, she will never forget that!!
Just kidding, Happy Valentine's Day!
