The UMD Bulldogs have officially earned the chance to play for their third consecutive national championship. The NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament brackets were announced Sunday and the Bulldogs earned the three seed in the Fargo Regional.

Due to COVID-19, the tournament was cancelled in 2020 so the Bulldogs are still the reigning back-to-back national champions in NCAA Division I Men's Hockey. The Bulldogs won the title after both the 2017- 2018 and 2018-2019 seasons. This is their seventh straight tournament invite and the 14th overall for the program.

The Bulldogs (14-10-2) will look to get hot again as they begin the tournament against the Michigan Wolverines (14-9-1), who are the second seed in the Fargo Regional. The game is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 26 from Scheels Arena in Fargo, North Dakota. The game will be televised on ESPNU.

If they advance past Michigan, they'll play either number one seed North Dakota or American International College, should they pull off a major upset over the Fighting Hawks.

Should the Bulldogs advance to the 2021 NCAA Frozen Four, they would finish their quest for a third consecutive national championship in PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh. The NCAA Frozen Four begins on Thursday, April 8.
